Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 35, Number 137, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 4 December 1903 — Good Record For Cadet Team. [ARTICLE]
Good Record For Cadet Team.
The Sunday Record-Herald had a big picture of the foot ball team of Northwestern Military Acad emy, pf Highland Park, 111. The Rensselaer boys on the team, Rice Porter and'John Bissell are conspicious in the picture, as they were in their games, and their Rensselaer coach, Albert Marshall brings up the rear in good shape. A summary of the team’s season’s record is given. They played eight match games and won six of them. The teams; that defeated them were Lake Forest College and North Division high school, of Chicago, Of the six teams they defeated, Rensselaer held them down to the smallest score of any. The cadets during the eight games scored 229 points while the opposing teams scored only 68 points It will be seen that our high school gave them a much harder tussel than the average, and that it was no disgrace to be beaten by "such an exceptionally strong team, especially since Rensselaer furnished their coach, captain and one other good player.
