TUESDAY. Mrs. T. J. McCoy is spending the-day in Chicago. -Hr. land Mrs B. F. Forsythe are in Chiqago today baying goods Mrs. Harry Kurrie want to Chioago this morning for a short visit. Dr, A. R, Kresler is now fully located in his fine new offije in the K of P. building. Mrs Elizabeth Longwell _pf llonon is the gaest here for a few days of J. F. Major and family. J. H. 8. Ellis and sons arrived home last evening from a several days visit with relatives in Oinoin* nati. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Morgan of Lafayette are the gnest here for a short time of Rev, H. L. Eindig and family, Mrs. Graoe Jauvenat White returned last evening to her home in Chicago, after a few days visit here with relatives and friends. Miss Hattie Yeoman and her friend Miss Edith Jndd of Miama, Fla , went to Delphi this afternoon for a short visit with friends. John Carr went to Frankfort this morning where he has a good position as carpenter on a big elevator that is being there.
Mrs. Sam Yeoman arrived home yesterday from Oklahoma City, where she has been spending several wewith her daughter, Mrs. M L. Spitler. -w A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Geo. N. Dunn, now of Wichita, Kan on Nov. 23rd. Tbe baby has been given the name of Clifford Moody Dunn. Mrs, Carry Call left this morning for her home in Duluth, Minn,, after a two week’s visit here with her sister, Mra. Ohas. plait and other relatives. Mrs. Fletoher Monnett who has bean visiting for some time with her daughter, Mrs. A. B. Burton, north of town, left this morniag for her homa in Evanston.
Mrs. W. Brown and two ohildren, Era and Waltsr, returned last evening to their home in Grown'Point after a short visit here with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Goff, s p Albert Marshall, Jay Saylors and Bert Rhoades returned last evening to Chicago, to remain probably until they ere oalled on again to help defend the foot ball honor of Rensselaer. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Jones of Remington and Mrs. Gjo. Iliff of Jordon township went to Chicago from here this morning to take in. the fat Stook Show is in progress there this week. Mrs. E. H. Kibler who has been paying a two week’s visit here with her daughter Mrs. J. F. Major, left today for Englewood where she will spend a few days with relatives before returning to her home in Warsaw.
The three Chicago bandits who were oaptured in Lake ooaoty last Friday have been indioted for the murder of. the Brakesman, Sovea, by the grand jury at Crown Point and if, for any reason, they are noV convicted in Chioago, they will be bought baok to Lake oouaty for trial. ..J . Charley Harmon, one of the clerks at Forsythe’s department store is mourning the loss today, of an expensive new overcoat; which be just recently purchased. Charley was out at the ball game yesterday and when he returned to the store, he bang the coat up in its aooustomed place. Later on, when he was ready to go to sapper, he discovered that the garment had disappeared. The play, “The Billionairees,” whioh was produced last evening at the Ellis Opera House, was, a good one but the company was greatly disappointed by the small audience whioh greeted them, when the curtain (went up for the first act. The company gave a good show ju-tt the same and if they ever return, will no doubt be met by a larger house. They show at Kankakee, til, to night. Judge Rabb and the Montioello lawyers interested in the Spencer will case left on the 11 a., m. train tod*v. The papers have all been fi ed aad the issues made up in the case, end its trial is set, for the Febiuaiy term About $103,000 worth of property is involved in the case and as the parties are ' all determined to law it to the last the case promises to make rich pioking for the lawyers for a long time yet,

Charles and family a week’s visit. Miss Belle Gilkey returned this morning to her hcfme in Chicago after a few day’s visit here with G. K. Hollingsworth and family. H. S Hayner, the piano tuner was called to his home in Cbioago today, by sickness in his family He will return at an early date to finish np his work here.

The representatives of the Pension Bnrean show that the penßipns issued during the first fonrmtmths of the present fiscal year exceed the same period of last year by 25 ■oer oent.v The pension issue last year was the largest in ten years. Dr. Merrill went to Englewood last night to join Ris family who moved there some time ago. The dooter expects to begin tbe praotioe of medicine at Englewood as soon as he flads s suitable location for his offioe.
- ■ -- Bln. John Vanatta who has been visiting relatives in Chicago for the p*st week arrived home last evening. On reaohiug here she received word that her daugh-ter-in-law, Mrs. Robert Vanatta at Marion was quite aiok and she left for there today.
It is reported, that while the foot ball gamei was in progress last Monday afternoon, Russell Harmon left gnard on the Rensselaer team, manipulated the sale of six fine Dnroo hogs to his Goodland opponent. The deal was closed between plays. That was manipulating the ’‘pigs Bkins” with the pigs in them, R.T. Benjamin, the piano and organ dealer has moved his place of business from the room in Makeever’s bank building, whioh he occupied jointly with Mrs. Puroupile’s millinery store. He now has bis office in the same room as White’s singer sewing machine agency, with the larger ' portion of his instruments stored in the rear room of the postoffioe. He expeots to secure more oo mm odious quarters later on.
The big new engine at the power station is now all in position, except some piping for oonneotions have not been reoeived yet. It may be some weeks however before the engine oan be started op, because of non-receipt of the new dynamo. That should have been here before this, but so far it does not appear to have left the faotory at New York. The new engine oan not be attaohed to the dyna* moes? now in nse here, as it is only adapted for the new style of (lynamoes, with high revolutions. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur H. Hopkins met the sad bereavement this morning of the death of their little girl baby and only child, Mary. She was takejh sick about five o’olook Tuesday evening, and died at 3:30 this morning, after a sickness of only about 10 or 11 hours. The cause of itsdeath was a bowel trouole. Brief funeral services will be held at the residence on north Front street. Thursday at two o’olook p. m , by Rev. A. G. Work. Interment will be in Weston cemetery. The baby’s age was four months and five days.

Will Hoover went to Chioago this morning to remain the balance of the week. Miss Doris Porter arrived home last evening from Indianapolis, after a week’s visit with relatives and friends'. Mrs. Taylor Boioourt, of Wolcott, is making a few days’ visit here with her parents, Mr, and Mrs. Win. Baker. Sam Damarons arrived here yesterday from a several weeks visit with relatives at bis old home near Knoxville, Tenn. Mrs. Elizabeth LoDgweli returned. last evening at her home in Monon after a Peek’s visit here with J. F. Majdrand family. Mrs. Frank Minnions aad children of Chioago Haight) are the guest* here for some time of John Kohler and family west of town, and other relatives. * A. W. Hopkins oama down from Chioago this morning to attend the fnneral of bis brother Arthur's little girl. 8. 8 Bbedd, living east of town went to Chioago this morning to take in the stook show and visit friends for a short time.
Several indoor base ball teams were organized here last night, and games will be played at least onoe every week daring the bslsnoe of the winter. Tbe games will take place in tbe armory, Taylor MoCoy, who has been a student at Andover College Mass , for the past few months, arrived home last night. He will not return there again this year, but will enter the public schools here next Monday.

Van Wood, who has bad a barber shop at MoCoysbnrg for some time past, went to Chicago yesterday to take a good position in a big shop there. He is Harvey Wood’s son Booth of town. W. R. Brown and wife of Pleasant Grove, accompanied by their son Everett and daughter, Mrs, Roy MoKenzie, arrived home last evening from Tuscola, Ills., where they have been visiting relatives and old friends for the past two weeks The man who was killed at the explosion of the nitro-glyoerine tank at the Aetna powder works last week, and whioh shook Rensselaer,was alone inside the building when the explosion oooured. He was absolutely annihilated so that not even a vestige of his body oould be found. Louis Wildberg has moved this week into one of Unole Jim Randle’s fine new houses, in Randleville—on—the—Mnkem self. Walter Porter’s brick house at the junction of Division and Main streets, whioh Mr, Wild berg moves out of Will be oooupied by W. O. The oonviots at the Northern Prison Thanksgiving Day feasted on 900 pounds of ohioken, 8 bushels of potatoes, 18 bushels of apples, 200 bunches of oelery, 275 peach pies, 2500 ginger cookies, 1500 sugar cookies, 275 loaves of bread, 40 pounds of butter and 18 pounds of ooffee. During the afternoon a vaudeville entertainment was given in the ohapel where the inmates assembled. A few days ago a number of deer broke out of a park at Montioello. All were recaptured but one and it wandered up toward Logausport. It was seen several times in the Clymers neighborhood. Sunday the animal was discovered by a lot of farmers in Miami oounty and was killed. It is against the law to kill a deer in this state and it is very likely that the men who killed this one will be prosecuted and find it a mighty dear deer. Sidaey Mainwaring, who recently moved here from the prohibition districts of Kansas, the strong right arm of Carrie Nation and her hatchet, so long held sway was arrested last evening about 5 o’olook by marshal Abbott on a charge of being drunk in a publio plaoe. M linwaring has been indulging quite frequently of late and has been warned several times to be more oareful. He made quits** nuisance of himself yesterday in the vioinity of Ray Wood’s barber shop and his arrest was the result. He was tried last evening before Squire Troxell and fined 2 dollars aud costs, amounting to $8.85 whioh he promptly paid. He is reputed to be a vdVy nice sort of a man on general principles but addicted to a mounmental booze occasionally.
