The Chicago Foot Ball Games.
The Rensselaer foot ball cranks whjb went to Chicago Thursday to witness the two big foot ball contests, not only got a satisfying amount of their favorite game but ■were also treated to some genuine Chicago winter weather. The morning game between Northwestern and the Carlisle Indians had jast started when a blinding snow storm from the wi st began beating down upon the crowd who sat shivering in the bleachers. The field glasses which were much in evidence among the Rensselaer party did not have much of a chance to come into play as the snow made it almost Impossible to see the players at all. The party however were treated to some genuine war-hooping by the famous 1 red-skins from the Carlisle Indian School who gave the Northwestern leim such a good trouncing, and this alone amply repaid the delegation from the banks of the Iroquois for their dreary and shivering experience in the cold but beautiful snow in the region of the South Side ball
park. When the party arrived at Marshall field early in the afternoon the snow was still falling and the gridiron was covered with several inches of its whiteness. The sun however came out about 2 o’clock and the balance of the afternoon was very pleasant. Fully 25,000 people were gathered on the field to witness the final great contest between the University elevens of Michigan and Chicago. -The music and yells given by the two opposin g skb*s was a great treat and something a person does not have a chance of seeing and hearing every day in the week It also goes to show that foot ball is undoubtedly the favorite and popular sport of a very large portion of the American people.
