Old Porter Coouty Crime Recalled.

It is a strange fact that whenever Porter county took a murderer to Laporte county for trial he waS convicted, and when it took one to Lake connty he was not convicted; This holds tree from the days of Page, who killed his wife and mother and shot Rickey Ludolph, down to Beam. If Beam is tried again he had better be tried before a Laporte county jury Chesterton Tribune. , . -• In the above paragraph the Tribune recal s a noted crime in its day and up to that time probably the worst ever committed in northwest Indiana. It will no doubt be •* remembered by many of our older residents. It was about the first of what might te called the wholesale or family murders, which have become so common since. This old Porter county crime occured along in the civil war times, or not long thereafter As we recall it, Page shot his wife and mother dead, and then shot the girl Miss Rickey Ludolph, and left the house. Returning a little later he found the girl still alive he shot her two or three times m'ore. Her wounds were such that it seemed impossible to recover from but she did live and her testimony sent the murderer to the gallows.
