Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 35, Number 132, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 20 November 1903 — The Bull Elk Dead. [ARTICLE]
The Bull Elk Dead.
We regret to relate that farther misfortune has followed the attempt of Charles Pullins and sons to established an elk herd in Barkley township. As has been related, one oow got her leg broke and was killed, at the time they were moved from Morris’s plaoe, another escaped in the swamp*, and the boll was hurt in breaking through the wire feno*. A young heifer ,whioh was poorly at the time died aorne weeks ago, and Wednesday the bull died also, from the effeot of his injuries. This leaves only one of the herd living and in Mr. Pullins’s possession, a fine ]grge oow, The hide, horns and teeth of the dead bull will bring enough to partly recoup Mr. Pullins for the money expended for him.
