Not After Beveridge’s Seat.
A telegram from Indianapolis says: “Gov. Durbin gave oat a formal statement last night denying all rumors that he was a candidate to suooeed Senator Albert J. Beveridge. The statement of the governor caused mooh comment among politicians, and there are those who see in it a readiness on the governors part to aooept the vioe-presidential nomination.” But perhaps the said politicians would see more oorreotly if they saw in it evidence that the governor does not care to butt his head against a stone wall. In regard to who will suoceed Senator Beveridge it has been an evident fact to everybody except perhaps a few Indianapolis politicians, that Albert J. Beveridge himself is the only available man that sizes up to that place just at present. "That hose’s eyes are sot” and they cant be uo-sot. w £■: • g
