The Royal Arch Organized.
Rensselaer Chapter, of Royal Arch Masons, Jurisdiction of Indiana, was organized here Monday night. The proposed instituting of a chapter here was related several weeks ago. with names of proposed charter members, who were eleven in number. Two new members were added last night, or at least started on the road to membership, receinng the first or Mark Mason’s degree. They were Jesse E. Wilson, the attorney, and Dr. H. L. Brown, the dentist. A delegation of Monticello Royal Arch Masons came over and organized the chapter, namely C. D. Meeker, E. B. Sellers, F. E. Hanway, F. Berkey, W. H. Hammille, L. E. Wheeler, J. R. Hamilton, Dr. M F. Didlake, J. P. Simons and G. O. Carson. All are leading citizens of Monticello, and some of them, especially Messrs. Sellers and Ham mi He, are exceptionally well informed in the work of the order.
The new chapter must, under the rules of Masonary, be under probation for a certain period before it will receive its charter and chapter number. It starts out under excellent auspices. A large number of Blue Lodge members desire to join the chapter at one e and a special meeting will be held in two weeks, with the Montioello ohapter again in charge, to take in these new members. The laws of the order give also to this chapter all territory that is nearer Rensselaer than to any other -chapter, which will add a number of members from Remington, and other neighboring towns. "The regular meetings nights of jhe new chapter , will be the 2nd and 4th Mondays of every month. They use the regular Masonic lodge room, in the K. of P building. They have considerable of their paraphernalia already secured, but considerable more remains to be ordered. This especially includes the expensive robes used in the work of the chapter.
