The work of elevating the Chicago & Western Indiana railroad racks in Chicago is trtill in active progress. People going in over the Monon now ride on a leveK with the second floor of neighboring houses for a distance of several miles, from a mile or two south' of Englewood to about as far north* of that suburb. People getting on or off there have a good flight of stairs to go up or down, as the case may be. The buildings ;hat stood there have been removed or torn down and among these the* notorious building right across the~ street from the station once knowtr as Holmes’ Castle, being the building wherein the Holmes remained for some time' and murdered several of his young women victims, including the' Cigrand girl, from Lafayette This track elevation by the wayi. ■J* a herculean job, and costs am enormous sum of money and taken* years to complete.
