Horse With a Checkered Career.
Rensselaer Wilkes, the horse which won the first prize in the gig horse class at the late Chicago Horse Show and was probably the handsomest horse exhibited at the show, has had a checkered history The Stock Farm bought him as a colt for $4,000 and after his great victory over Que Allen were offered $7,200 for him. Finally they sold him for $2,600, and it was only a few months ago when he sold at auction in Chicago for $1,200. Now that he has gained national renown by winning the gig show, his value is probably way up in the thousands again. By a curious coincidence, the man Moores, who now owns him also owns one of his colts, and also formerly the property of the Rensselaer Stock Farm It is the beautiful young horse which T. J. McCoy sold about a year ago, to Tichenor of Chicago, for SSOOO. Tichenor found a mate for him and sent them down to New-York, soon after, and sold the pair for $8,200. It is.needless to say that Tom wishes he had not sold him so cheap. t
