FRIDAY. Frank Wood oame over from Wolcott this morning to look after «ome business matters. Bert Goff and Bay Thompson went np to the Kankakee river this morning for a days fishing, t Geo* Moss, of Frankfort, is transacting business and Visiting old friends here for a short time. Joseph Davidson, of Barkley township, has reoently been appointed station agent of the C.& E. I. railroad atKniman. Mrs. Dr. Merrill and daughter est yesterday afternoon for Engle ~ wood, where they expeot to make their future home. * Mrs. B. F. Ferguson and daughter Ethel, arrived home /last evening from a two week’s visit with relatives in Logansport. Don’t forget the foot ball game tomorrow afternoon at the Athietio Park. Centrtl Lafayette vs Rensselaer. Mrs. W T. McCoy of Ohioago is making a short visit here with her mother Mrs. L. A. Moss and •other relatives and friends. Mrs. Thomas Thornton arrived home last night from Kankakee, 111., where she has-: been visiting relatives and friends for some time. Notioe has been received today that John Oasey is accepted at Long Cliff asylum. He will not be taken there ugtii Monday, however. The foot ball game at Remington yesterday afternoon between Goodland and Remington teams resulted in aviotory for the former by a score of 6 to 0. The Monon foot ball team arrived here on the 9:55 train apd were driven to Mt. Ayr where they will play Bruce Hardy’s team of husky plryers this pfterhboD.
The milk train arrived here one hour and a half late morning owing to a freight train which broke down, between Monon and Reynolds, oansing a blockade of the tracks. Major Harrison will be here next Wednesday evening for his regular semi-annual inspection of Co. M. All members of the oom-
puny are expected to have their equipments thoroughly oleaned and in their lookers at the armory before that time. Ohas. Robinson arrived home last night from a six week’s sojourn at Wiohita, Port Scott and Kansas Oity, Kane. He says that be had a very enjoyable trip and that the country and olimate are very much to his liking. Winfred Pnllins, who has been making a few week's visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oharles Pnllins, north of town, left this afternoon for Momenoe, 111., where hie will transact some business, before returning to his home at Band Greek, North Dakota. The Indiana G. A. R, at its state enoampment at Winona Lake, next year, will dedicate tbe largest auditorium in Indiana. Dr. 8. O. Dickey, manager of Winona Assembly, is preparing to let oontracts for an auditorium that will seat 20,000 people without any crowding. It will be built over tbe old lily pmd and will take in tbe hillsides on which tbe big sunset meetings have been held in the past. Rensselaer has a ‘“jagcure” establishment all her own. It was organized just reoently tfnc is already saving some patronage. Miss Jennie Thompson went to Attioa this morning where she will epend a few da) s with relatives and friends. The ladies of the Presbyterian oh arch seem to be getting their share of business today, with their rummage sale in the K. of, P. building and their market at the post-office. Mr. and Mrs Charles Warner entertained a number of their friends at their home last evening, io honor of Missee Lola Ross and Mae Dunlap of Ohioago, who are their guests for a few days. A freshman olass party was held last night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Michael, south east of town. About 50 of the freshman olass, including the teachers of the High School, were in attendance and report a fine time.
The foot ball came at Mt. Ayr yesterday afternoon between the Monon and Mt. Ayr athletic teams resulted in a victory for the latter, the score being 34 to O in their favor. Evidently Bruce Hardy has his team well trained; The fishing at the Kankakee river is reported nearly at an end fer this year. The reoent rain |have u oaused the water to raise and flood the marshes* as well as washing a bountiful supply of fish food into the river. Ducks are reported plentiful. County snrveyor Myrt Prioe stayed with hia brother Charles H. our former county clerk two weeks at hia home in Missouri, during his reoent western trip. Charley ia in very poor health and evidently with little prospeot for improvement. He baa never got over the effeota of a severe sickness last year, with pneumonia and typhoid fever. Prof. Blanndin gave another one of hia laughable hypnotic entertainments at the Ellis opera house last night including a very high class sleight of band performance, revealing the art of the true magician in a style that has seldom been seen here before. Mrs. Lies* Hobaok, landlady of the Nowels House, has recently purchased a piece of property at Monon, whioh she will improve and rent for a while at least. Her lease here on the Nowels House does not: expire until the Ist of Maroh and she has not yet fully made up her mind as to intentions after that time. If she does tot continue here in the hotel business, she will probably move into her new property at Monon.

Virgil Hamilton of Moqtioello was the gneet of Rensselaer friends yesterday. Mrs. Wm Warren and daughter Louie have been quite sick for several days Mr. and Mrs. Jfcsse Fox of Rose Lawn are making a few day’s visit bete with relatives and friends. Edward Mills of Ohioago spent the day here yesterday with hie parents. Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Milss Btephen Barnes returned to bis home at Fowler this morning after a short visit here with relatives and friends. John Hoffman has a good ten room residence on Vine street so ne arlyoompleted that he has moved into it. Henry Holmes of Delphi, stopped off herd yesterday on his way to Ohioago, for a short visit with his sister, Mrs. Marsh Warner. F. W. Colvin and daughter, Nellie of Delphi, were the guests here yesterday of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Parcels and other friends. Court Reporter, John Walker arrived home this morning from Bloomington, where he has been spending the past few days with his parents. Rev. A. R. Harper, the Baptist evangelist will be here all this week and the meetings will be held at the Free Baptist ohnroh each night as usual. Merle Benjamin arrived home Saturday night from the Mudlavia Springs where he has been under going treatment for the past three weeks. He is still in very poor health. Mr, and Mrs. Ross Hawkins left on the early train this morning for their future home at Anderson. Ross expects to secure a position there in the employ of the Anderson Street Car Company. O. O, Robinson arrived home Bnnday from several months stay in North Dakota. While there be work on the J. W. Piper ranob, one of the big ranohs of that state. The grain crop this season on the ranch was nearly 6,000 aores. Mrs. Geo. Reed arrived here Saturday evening from Havana, 111., and will remain here with her parents Mr. and Mrs. James Matbeson nntil her husband arrives here some time daring the holidays, They will then move on Mr. Matheson’s farm jnst northwest of town.
