-An enthusiastic Indiana Democrat wants Mr. Holtzman, the new mayor at Indianapolis, to run for governor “on bis reoord as mayor." It is ordinarily a good tning to make a reoord before running on it, though it is quite likely that the older this particular reoord gets, the less available it will be as a campaign issue. The man who goes about sayiag that the laws in this ’country of majority rule have been made by capitalists is simply circulating a obarge to the effect thnt the wageearners of the United States, always vastly in the majority, have shown themselves to be a brainless add spineless lot. The truth is that anyone who makes a statement of this kind is only offering additional evidence of the fact that the fool-killer has been .neglecting his duties, waeaggHgIPigures ? n the of Agriculture, at Washington, show that the htns of this country can produce more solid wealth than all the gold mines. More than that, they produce more than all the gold and silver mines put together. The estimated number of chickens in the country is 250,000,000, produoiug for market in the year poul‘ry worth $136,000,--OiX) and eggs wor.h $144,000,000, *a i .<*l value of about $280,000,000. %. is represents an iuoome of 400 per cent, on a similar investment. Kentlaod Enterprise: A matter of oonaiderable moment to farmers is the uncertainty regarding the price of the new oorn erop. A local dealer believes the prioe will open at about thirtyseven cents; it may be higher, or a little lower. One of the strongest factors towards creating this uncertainty is the railroads. Last year dealers were imposed upon by the railroads to an extent heretofore unknown Cars were not furnished, and after they were furnished delivery was not made in many instances until long after the time for delivery in the oontraA bad expired. In consrquenoe great loss was imposed upon the dealers, and this year they are compelled by reason of this corporate menace to keep dose to shore in the matter es quoting prices Now is the time to have you ohimneys oleaned. by Harry Wilt shire, the reliable chimney cleaner Telephone orders to telephone 288
