Another'suit for slander is now on the*November term docket of the court. It is for no measleyslittle't2,ooo, like the one from Union Tp. but for $lO,000. Thejplaintiff is Dora Brown and the defendant Charles Barkland. He lives in Newton county, and the suit was begun there, and sent here on charge of venue. The slanderous words are alleged to have£been spoken in Jasper ooanty,"and*most of the witnesses also live'in this county. According to the'oomplaint, the defendant, on July 25th, last in the hearing of persons, declares that the plaintiff was earning her living as a prostitute. Bbe*alleges that she, being a chaste woman, of good reputation was siok for a month and had nervous f prostration as a result of the*defendant’s words.
