A Big Automobile Headed This Way
Under the heading "Ramsey Automobile Will Make Long Distance Run,” the St. Louis GlobeDemoorat of last Sundgf has a two column portrait of Mrs. Horace S. Rumsey, of that oity, and with it the following matter: Mr, and Mrs. Horace Rumsey have fitted out their big red automobile, putting it in trim for long oross-couutry trips, the first of which will be made this week. The auto has now a new omnbibus top, with side curtains and " glasses all complete, including a rail at the top to bold the baggage. Mr. Rumsey sent to New York for a handsome lunch basket, and this has just arrived and has been duly inspected by friends. The basket is fitted with plates, knives, forks, oups and saucers, spoons, wiokercovered bottles for wine, etc; jags for oream and butter, salad, and in fact, everything one oould desire. The basket will be strapped on top with ell of the personal baggage and the various duplicate parts of the maohine, oarried in oase of a breakdown. Heavy waterproof "slickers” for each member of the party have also been provided, buttoning dose about the throat and wrists, and with these the tourists will wear oaps of the rubber, with a long piece at the back to protect the hair, a visor in front and blue goggles. The start will be made about 7 o’clock Tuesday morning, when they will leave, accompanied by Mr. Gas Halsey, for a trip, whose ultimate destination is Rensselaer, Ind., and which will oooupy about three days. As both Mr. Halsey and Mr. Rumsey are both expert chauffeurs they will dispense with the services of a chauffeur, and run the maohine in turn. Many of their friends expect to see the start and arrival home.
Mr. Rumsey is a partner and resident manager of the L. M. Rumsey Manufacturing 00., a big iron and steel making oonoern, of Bt. Louis, and is very wealthy. The automobile is a big steam propelled maohine, and probably the finest ever seen in Rensselaer. He is a special friend of F. A. Ross, of our oity, and comes here to visit him. Mr. Ross left for Terre Hante on Wednesday and will accompany the party here in the auto. The party will probably remain here for a number of days. They will probably arrive here some time on Thursday or Friday.
