» The law giving town clerks authority to act as justices of the peaoe is oonstitutitional. The Supreme Court so deoided Tuesday in the appeal by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Company from a judgment oonvicting it of violating an ordinance of the town of Whiting. It also deoided that towns, have legal power to limit the speed of railway trains through their corporate limits The court says there is no reason why the legislature can not confer judioial powers on a town olerk that would not also apply to prevent it from confering sueh powerson the mayor of the oity.
