Wm. Geary is improving the ap. pearanoe of his house with a fresh ooat of paint. Fourteen tickets were sold here for the Qhioago exousion last Sunday. ■ Wm. Tolly is making improvements on his bouse. Mrs G. W. Proudley is spending the week with friends and relatives in Chicago. Mrs Penwright, of El Reno, Oklahoma, is visiting Mr, and Mrrf. Jim Clifton for a week or two. John Casey has returned from the Soldiers’ Home at Marion for a visit with his family. Posts aster J. C. Thompson has just had his pension increased from $6 to sl2 per month. Mrs. Udorus Cottingham and son Willie spent Sunday with her daughter Jennie, in Chicago, and also called on Isaao Burns, who is under treatment for lung trouble. Eleven extra trains were run over tfce Goodland-LaCroese branch of the C. & E. I. Ry. last Bunday, thus denoting a rushing coal and freight business. This was a record breaker. Jake Spitzer, of Chioago, is here for a few weeks’ visit with his mother and other relatives. The Weber Wajjpm Works, with whom
he is employed, has temporarily shot down to make some necessary re, P vr&. Rev. Enoch Swartz, of North Liberty, Ind., an Advent st, has been holding meetings at the M. E; church the past two weeks and they are being well attended each evening. A oar load of 83 fine hogs were shipped from Riverside, Ind , to the Thompson & Lawler ranch last Tuesday,—————;—' Born, Tuesday morning, Oct. 12ih 1903, to Mr. and Mrs. Dick Mallett, a ten pound boy. Mother and child aredoiog well. John Baker took his seven year old son to Chicago last Tuesday to Consult Dr. Porter about- his condition, The boy has been suffering for some time with ulceration of the mouth and other trouble.
