G. A. R. Picnic.
Friday Oct. 2nd, Rensselaer Post 84 and Milroy Circle Ladies of the G. A. R. held their annual picnic at the residence of Mr. John Martindale 5 miles northwest of town. Forty members of the Post and forty-two members of the Cirole attended, which with their friends made over 100 in all. A wagon load of melons and a barrel of cider were “raided” by the "boys” in old time shape, then cutting a bee-tree furnished fun for the boys and bees too, a good many of the boys showed the white feather, but those old veto, Troxel, Wood and Kenton, waded right in, got 50 lbs of honey and plenty of stings. Dinner was formally called at 12:30, but the eating was a continuous performance with music and speeches on the sidej The Circle presented Mrs. Martindale with a souvenir*spoon, and the Post gave Mr. Martindale an autograph album, with the signatures of all present giving the company and regiment of each comrade. Everybody said it was the biggest and beet time they had ever hid. Next year the picnic will be' held right there same place but a little earlier, the 2nd Thursday of September. Mrs. lines will have no special Millinery Opening this season, but her stock of goods is now in, and anyone wishing to call and see them are cordially invited to do so* No ware made compares with the "Majestic.” The full set is worth 17.50, but we’re going to give a set free with every Majestoi Range sold at our exhibit this week.
