The Gray Case Compromised.
The celebrated Gray land oase, from Pulaski county has been settled by the parties, and was dismissed last Wednesday, at Montioello, where the oase was pending, on obange of ventte. By the terms of this compromise the family of Thomas Gray save probably enough of their once large wealth in lands to afford them a oomfortable support. He bad extensive holdings of land in Pulaski and Benton counties. He • :» --v, • -> -< • • vj- j > r _ - ~j~> traded all, or mopt of it foT land in Kansas, which proved to be of but little value- Gray went insane, presumably from worrying over his bad trade, but the family has been fightiog for years in the courts to retain a portion of their property in Indiana. All was finally hopelessly lost except the home plaoe of 400 acres, in Pulaski county, near Franoesville. For the possession of this and for money in a receiver’s hands they have been at law with a man named Judd, and it is this cbde that has just been finally settled by a compromise. The Montioello Democrat thus gives the terms of compromise. “By the terms of the agreement the Grays get 240 acres of the land in Pulaski county and half the money in the. receiver’s hands. Judd gets 160 acres and the other half of the money. Eaoh tract of land is subject to a mortgage of $3,334. Eaoh party pay their own costs.”
