Conference News Notes.

Presiding Elder D. M. Wood, of the Valparaiso district asked for a grant of SI,OOO from tbe beard of ohnroh extension to aid in building a ohuioh at Indiana Harbor, near Chicago. The conference endorsed thd request of Dr. Wood. ‘Presiding Elder 0. A. Brooke, of the Lafayette district, presented his final report as presiding elder by .reason of limitM>on. He is one of the five of the old guard who 49 years ago admitted Bishop Joyce ti the Northwest conference on trial, Bishop Joyce then being S candidate for the mTnistry. At the conclusion of the reading of his report Bishop Joyoe oalled Dr. Brook to the front and aaid a few appropriate oommend&tory words in token and appreciation of hie servioe for the past 50 years. The bishop then presented him with two envelopes containing S3O in gold, S2O for Dr. Brook and $lO for hia wife, aa a token of love a off estekm from the ministers in the Lafayette diatriot. Friday the opening session of the Lay Electoral Conference waa held, Hon. Mark L. DeMotte of Valparatoo responded to the address of welcome.
