Funeral of Grandmother Shortridge.
The funeral party of lira. Esther Shortridge arrived from Hammond on the 10:55 a. m, train Tuesday, and the funeral was held at the Oburoh of God, immediately thereafter, by Rev. D. T. Halstead. Interment was then made in Weston oemetery, by the Bide of her daughter Mrs. Margaret Burroughs, end several grandchildren. The servioes were brief but impressive and appropriate. Brief services were also held at Hammond, at 8 o’olook this morning, by Rev. Sharp. Mrs Shortridge. who died near the dose of her 99th year, was the widow of Rev. Elisha Shortridge, a pioneer minister of the Christian cburoh, and who died 50 years ago and was buried at Monon, then Bradford. He was a soldier of the war of 1812, and she drew a pension as his widow, when she died. It is Slid that there is only one other surviving widow pensioner of that war.
Besides her 11 children her descendants were 50 grand-ohild-ren, half of whom are dead, 67 living great-grand-ohildren and 8 great-great-grand children. Previous to going to Hammond, about 15 years ago, she lived a great many years in this county, with her daughter lira. Margaret Burroughs, who died last Marob, Those who came in the funeral party wars Wra. Shorfcridge, of Bheldon, 111,, the only survivor of her eleven ohildren, and the following grand ohildren: Elisha Sbortridge and Mrs. M. Brainard, of Chicago, Mrs. M. E. Shortric ge, Mrs. May Jordan, Miss Bose Sbortridge, of Hammond, Mrs. Wm. Vent Wood, of Druse Lake, 111.
