At last the long looked for two minntes trotter has arrived. At Readville, Mass.. Monday, Lon Dillon, a beautiful mare, trotted a mile in two minntes fiat. The previous world’s record had been held by Cresceus and wae 2:Q2J. , The Dillon mare, after many noted animals bad tried. to equal or even dip off a second of Cresoens’ time, comes out and with comparative ease takes off 2£ seconds. Unless the Dillon qaare lowers the times herself tbe reoord will be likely to stand for a long time It has not. been 30 many years since old Mand 8 with her 2:08 reoord was queen of the turf. Ever sine® then it has been tbe ambition of horsemen to send a trotter a mile in two minntes. this has now been accomplished there are many who will contend that Maud 8, hitched to a bioyole sulky, instead of one of the old high-wheeled affairs, trained in tbe perfect manner that horses are trained now days, the track and other conditions equal, was just as good in her time as Lou Dillon is today.
