Another Building and Loan.
The new Castle Hali buildiug, the property of Rensselaer Lodge No. 82, Knight* of P/thias, was appropriately dedicated. Wednesday afternoon, August 27th. 19)8 A correct picture of the building is herewith given. . It is 66 by 100 feet dim -*u*ious, and three st »ries and a hisern -nt in height. The buildiug cost $30,000 and was over a year in construction The basement contains rooms suitable for rest iurantand barber shops, storage rooms, toilet rooms etc. The ground fl jor is devoted to store rooms. The 2nd st >ry has three fine suites of office rooms, and a magnificent armory" room for Company M., of the I. N. G-., the fiuest single oompany armory in Indiana. In the third stcry are the splendid lodge rooms of the K. of P., and Masonic lodges; with antirooms, waiting rooms, closets etc. There is steam heat, wst->r and toilet rooms on every floor. Work on the building began in June 1902, and it wus completed in August 1903. W. E. Smith & Co. were contractors for the txca vations, A. K. Yeoman for the foundation rook, Rush & Warren for the general building and Warner Bros, for tbe heatiag and plnmbiog. Tbe regular dedication service of the order was given by Geo. W. Powell, Grand Prelate and Frank Bowers, grand K, of P. S., both of Indianapolis and W. A. Morris, grand M. of E., of Frankfort and 8, C. Dwyer, Diet. Dept. Grand Master, of Lowell. Addresses were given by the visiting gragrii officers, by G. A. Williams, C. C. and others of the local lodge. A fine parade by Lowell Uniform Rank preceded tbe dedication.
Rensselaer now has another building and loan association on the perpetual plan. It is called "The American Building & Loan Association” and it starts in with capital stook of 850,000, but which may be increased at any time. The inoorporators are W. M. Baughman, J. M. Wasson, A. R. Hopkins, Wm. Donnelly and A. H. Hopkins, who are also directors and W. O. Baboook, J. N. Leatherman, A. L Berkley, G. A. Williamsi and F. B. Myers.
