American Catholics.
There are ten million Roman Catholics in the United States, but only one is a cardinal and has a voice in the election of a pope, and when it comes to the management of ohurch affairs the American Catholics are without voice or influence. It is the general opinion of American Catholics and Protestants that this condition of things ought to be changed. Amerioan Catholics have more intelligence than the mass of Catholics in Europe, they are equally loyal to the ohurch, and they are remarkably generous in their contributions toward its support. In this oountry one person in every seven belongs to the Roman Catholic ohuroh. —Elkhart Review.
