Keaton, who removed, to Soath Dakota last is very seriously siok, and great fears are.entertained that she will not recover. . Mrs. J. W. Turfler of Sugarloaf New York is visiting her son Dr. Frances Turfler for a few days, she will go to Kansas City Mo., to visit relatives before returning home. The north bound train dne here at 4:30 a. m. this morning was nearly five hours late. The reason was too small an engine, and whioh was finally exchanged for a big freight engine. There will be another entertainment &t the new Parochial school building Sunday evening. The play will be in four aots and entitled ‘'One Year.” There will also be a literary program rendered. Admission 10 cents.
It looks like the new home laundry would be properly appreciated and patronized by home people, as they already have so muoh work that Mr. McKay, the proprietor says he had to work all night last night, to get np with his orders. The Fowler base ball team had its pioture in Friday’s Indianapolis News. This team is, for ball, about what Rensselaer’s football team was iu football two years ago. They have played 24 matoh games this season, and won 22 of them. Another oarnival attraction which arrived today ahead of the procession, is Bernstein & Maynard’s Turkish Theater. They oatne from Frankfort here, not having been with the Dixie oompany, before. There are a number of Arabians and Turks in the party. Marriage licenses have been going very slowly lately, Jant one was issued by clerk Major, this morning. It is for Washington A. Burns, of Montieello, and Ura Hanaway, of DeMotte, daughter* of Squire Jacob Hanaway, of that plaoe. They will be married Sunday.
Yonng Kenneth Rhoades, of the Niagara Falls party, arrived home this forenoon, the others being in Chicago today. He says the statement in the Lafayette pepers that two of the party, Miss Mary Weathers of this plaoe, and John Fox, of Lafayette, were married at Niagara, last Wednesday, is a false report.
Our reference in yesterday’s items to whaf Rev. C. D. Royse was still likely to do for Rensselaer is perhaps liable to be misoonstrned in some quarters, but we are not present at liberty to go into details, but it is a matter that willdevelope at the ooming Northwest Indiana M. E. conference; at South Bend; the first week in September. Joe Hordeman, of the 16th U. S. infantry, is home dh a furloagh, on account of the sickness of his mother. Mrs. Peter Hordeman, of west of town, who is fast nearing her end, from consumption. Joe is now looated at Atlanta, Ga., his regiment having returned from the Philippines about a year ago. He brought back a large collection of relios, and talks very entertainingly of his Philippine experience.
The advanoe guard of the carnival army arrived Friday evening, it being a merry-go-round, of large size and complete equipments The owner and manager is Wm. S. Ayers, of Kewanna, this state. He has not been with the Dixie people heretofore, but will probably go with them the rest of the season. The previous two weeks he has been at Rochester; this state, when a street oarnival one week was followed by a Uniform Rank K. of P. convention the next. The **Mary” will begin to go round this Saturday evening. It is at the old plaoe on the briok street, east of the court house.
