The International Yacht races for the America oup, the most celebrated sporting events in the world, will begin next Thursday, at New York, Lipton’s Shamrock Third, and the Amerioan syndicate boat, Relianoe, will be the contestants. By all aocounls Lipton’s sew boat is the hardest proposition the Amerioan boats ever went up against. Hon. Thomas J. MoCoy, of Rensselaer, will in all probability bere-eleoted Republican chairman of the Tenth distriot. Mr. MoCoy is one of the oldest members of the State central oommittee, having been eleoted the first time iu 1896. He has served oontinuousi) ever sinoe. He is iu oomplete harmony with all the interests of the distriot and is said to be quite favorable to the oaudidaoy of Hon. J. F. Hauly. —Valparaiso Vidette. The new game law with the afsistanoe of the game wardens has fixed matters so that the crack of a gun is seldom ever heard any more, and the wild song birds are about as safe as they would be in a oage The Sunday law has put a veto on that class of sports who want to shoot at anything and everything they chanoed to see, and the law so far is working to prefeotion. Owen and U. B. Hunt, oommitted suioide at lndianapolss, Friday morning, by throwing himself under a moving freight train. He had been threatheuiug suicide for some days, and had worried greatly over financial reverses. He was well known to quite a number of Rensselaer people having been here a Dumber of times in the interests of the Endowment Ranks of the Knights of Pythias.

Work oq the macadamizing of the two business blocks of Vine street, is now under wav. Vine is the first street south of the railroad and the improvements is from Forest to Main. When the improvements on this and Susan streets are completed, there will be fine maoadam streets from the depot to the Makeever House, without, following the Division street route at all. fieuoe Lhere is no necessity for preoipitate aotion in ordering the improvement of Division street, and no reason why the property owners should not have time to oonsider a little on the kind of a street they would prefer.
