The Largest Locomotive.
The oontraot for the largest locomotive ever constructed was le ; this week in Baltimore. It will be bnilt for the Baltimore and Ohio by the American Locomotive Oompany and will weigh 380,000 pounds. It is intended to pal freight trains over the mountains, performing muob greater service than the helping engines now employed, The new looomotive will be praotioally twioe as heavy as any engine npw on the road, and it ia expected to prove very ooonomioal in operating. It is designed by an offioial in the servioe of the oompany and the oontraot has been awarded, the engine to be finished in time for exhibition at the Bt. Lonis world’s fair, after whioh it will be assigned to doty. The engine will be bnilt by the Boheneotady looomotive works of the American Looomotive Oom* pany.
