Tanner Wants Cain to Raise.
G. W. Tanner, manager of she abort order reetanrant don't want to "raise Gain" bat he [does want Gain to raise. That is to raise aboot $25 for his benefit. At least he has began a Suit for that sum against Tom Gain, his brother restanrantuer, in Squire 8- G Irwin’s court. It seems by one story that Tanner and Gain jointly ran a "soft drinks’’ emporium in Fair Oaks on the 4th of July and sold about a oar load, more or less, of some kind of foaming beveredge under the name of "hop ale." The name was eery appropriate from the faot that whenever a probabele customer approaohed with a wink in his sinister optic and a niokle in his dexter bread hook, there was great rivalry between the partners as to which of them should first hop over the oounter and hand out the ale. And whenever either made a
sale he would drop the niokle down in his jeans, look wise and say nothing. Neither man kept any aooonnt of his sales, nor made any aooounting to the other. And now Billy thinks Tom hopped for the heps so muob livelier than he did that there is something coming to him from the surplus to the bfc about 125 worth. Tom, on the other hand, claims that everything was settled np fair and square, and that nothing was sold that needed a wink with the order. The trial is set for Tuesday, the 11 tb, at 1 o’olock p. m.
