Company M. Had a Hike.

The Third Regiment, which includes Company M. of Rensselaer, and also the Lafayette battery, had a very strenuous experience, last Saturday. They were hustled out at 3 o’clock in tfie morning, and under full panoply of war, guns, blankets, knapsaok and baversaoks, marohed nine miles, where they entrenched themselves against an expected attack. The other two regiments and two batteries left camp two hours later, and when the two armies oame together there a great sham battle, which by all aoCourts was a very real and very imitation of the reality of waT. No one was killed but quite a good many of the boys were worn out and temporarily disabled by the long marches and the exertions of the battle. The soldiers will break camp Tuesday.
