The Circus Was Here.

Wallace’s oirous exhibited here Saturday to what was probably the biggest crowd that ever attended h show in Rensselaer. The nnmber of paid admission at, the afternoon performance is reliably stated at 6080. The evening attendance was also large tor an evening performance.

The circus is a pretty good circus, and with no objeotionable features, and yet the general tone of the comment is of dhsitisfaction, And no doubt it was not so good as it was twO years ago, nor ah good as people had a right' to expect it to be. There was a practically complete dearth of any new thrilling features, like people are looking for at oircuses these days. The Btirk family are good in bicycle tricks, statuary, and

trapeze work. So also was the Harris family in tumbling. The Marion Zuaves are a new feature and very fine, but their best pait, scaling a h’gh wall, was injuetly out out at the evening performance. Tho trick ho:s"-back riding was little and poor. Tbe hippodrome races were good and the horsebaok hurdle jumping y£s also pretty fair, but the horse which is said to clear over 7 feet was not in evidence.

There was some pretty good clown work, with some new features, and one of them, about 7 feet tall and thin as a fence rail, is one of the limberest hnm m beings that was ever seen in these parts. There was excellent order at all times, and no gambling or skin games were attempted.
