The Carnival Is Coming.

The City Oounoil held a special meeting Wednesday, to consider the question of granting the rights to use the streets for the proposed street oarnival, under the auspices ot the Knights of Pythias Castle Hall Association. It was quite a lively session, as the three resident ministers of the town were present to remonstrate against the holding of a oarnival, They were backed by qnite a delegation of oitizens molnding a number of women.

There was quite a spirited discussion bnt at the end the Oounoil voted to grant the use of the streets and which action makes it praotioally certain that the oarnival will be held. The vote stood four for giving the grant to one against The hffirmative votes were Ferguson, Phillips, Parks and McColly. The opposing vote was Wood. Mayor Ellis also put himself on record as favoring the oarnival, but at the same pledged himself to keep out all gambling and other objectionable features that the law could reach. The Castle Hall I committee also gave full and sini oere promises that nothing objectionable should be permitted. The oarnival will probably be j held the last week in Angust. The | Darnaby-Bankin Company, said Ito be a very high class organization, has offered to oome here the last week in that month. They are now exhibiting at Watseka, 111, and a committee consisting of J. E. Wilson and J. H. 8. Ellis will go over this Thursday evening, and if they find the company, is all it is represented, a contract will be closed with them.
