Saloons vs Barrel Houses.

The retail liquor business oame to an end in Colfax Monday, and for the first time in the history of the town every saloon has dosed its doors, The lioense of William Dukes aud William Mitchell ended Sunday, and both have applied for renewals. Their applications will oome up on J uly 6, and the temperanoe people are working hard on a blanket remonstranoe. The neighboring town of Clarksville dosed its saloons, but two barrel houses are in operation, and it is a question with the temperanoe people whether it is better to have saloons or barrel houses. The saloon men are taking advantage of this, and are getting a good many to withdraw from the remonetranoe.
