Stoner In the West.
In a couple of long letters from D. A. Stoner we learn considerable concerning his western trip. Dan does’nt seem particularly impressed with Kansas thongh he says they are a mighty friendly lot of people there. He recounts a long description of the flooded distriot around Kansas City, all of whioh we presame oar readers have read time and again. He reports the orops as backwards in the western states owing to the excessive rains. The people of the newer towns are a wide awake and energetic class and he says the saloons whioh were left after the Carrie Nation raid are still running wide open and, doing business in the same old way, regardless of Carrie and her hatohet. Harvest aronnd Wichita is at full swing now and a large number of farm bands are wanted. Dan expects, to be home in a few days.
