Sadden Death In Union Tp.
An Old Resident of Jasper County Dies Suddenly of Heart Trouble. > Another sudden death is reported from Union township. John Homes an old and respected resident living about one and a half miles west of Aix post-offioe, died very suddenly of heart trouble at his home about five o’olook Thursday evening. He had been about in his usual health up to that time and in spite of his age was in the habit of doing considerable work about the place. Thursday evening he took bis team and went to the field to do a little harrowing but had not been there long before he had begun to feel badly. He returned immediately to house but wbeij he 7 arrived was unable to put up his team, which was done by bis wife. He grew worse rapidly and Dr. English was hastily summoned but before he oould reach there Mr. Humes was dead.. It was less than an hour and a half from the time he had hitched up to go the field when he died. The deceased who was 67 years of age, was born in Ohio, but previous to his removal to Jasper oounty lived for a time in Logansport. He has been a resident of Jasper county for over 40 years howevef, He leaves a wife and four children, three daughters and one son all of whom are living in this immediate vicinity. They are Mrs. Mary Osborne, Mrs. Helen Lewis, Mrs. Pearl Hayes and John W* Humes. He was an old soldie and served through the oivil war in the rank of captain. The funeral was held from Brushwood ohuroh at eleven a. m., Saturday June 20th, and interment made in the Prater oemetery northeast of Rensselaer.
