Everett Halstead Wins.
Suit in the Supreme Court Decided in His Favor. i The long contested oase of Coen vs Halstead whioh has just been tried in the Supreme Court, resulted in a verdiot for the defendant. This case was tried here before Judge Leary in 1901, and resulted in a verdiot for the plaintiff in the sum of $247. Halstead. appealed the oase to the Bupreme oourt and at the trial whioh ended last week the above decision was rendered. This suit was brought for the recovery of a sum equal to the value of a oertain ameunt of wood out from a piece of land, of which the plaintiff is administrator, and which the plaintiff alleged was out without her permission* It resulted however that the defendant had a letter from the plaintiff which he offered in evidence, showing that he had received the neoessary permission to cut the timber in question. This decision from the supreme Court closes the oase and throws the costs of both trills on the plaintiff.
