The following dispatoh Irom Kankakee, 111, to the Ohioago American relative to Frank O’Meara’s running horse whioh he entered at the American Derby, to be run next Saturday leaves little doubt thpt the horse is a favorite in that vioinlty at least. Hopes of this vioiuity are staked on Jack Orr as the Derby winner. Jaok is a fine hone. He is being trained here. On “Sam” Jones’ delivery wagon yesterday he made the Derby distance in five minutes- Considering he had a heavy load of eggs to haul and could not be let out, this ie considered a great performance Sam’s son drove him, He is working out today ou Tom Smith’s corn oultivator. Jaok will start for Chicago tomorrow. The owner believes be oan drive him there in tip top shape in a oouple of-days. He will be driven to a light runabout. Many prominent people have large sums staked on Jack Orr. Among those who have baoked the local horse heavily may be mentioned as following: Walter O. Brown —$1, two packages of cigarettes and a_ penknife. James P, Bickett—2s oents, two Canadian 10 oent pieces and a half bushel of green peSs. Howard P. Jones—Two cans sweet corn, one pound granulated augar and a railroad tioket to Sibley, 111. Heotor Elwell—One blue flannel shirt, two golf balls (appraised at 10 oents each) and one yellow dog, mixed breed. Kankakee is on the anxious seat.
