From another letter from Charley Porter to his brother Ike, we learn more of the situation in Vernice, near St. Lonis. Qis, while it is only one ont of a hundredjsimilar cases, yet it is deplorable in the extreme. They are now in that portion of J East St Lonis that esoaped the fiood and say it will probably be six or seven weeks before they can again occupy their house, which now contains about eight feet of water. With 25 other families they were for three days housed in a school house among whom was a woman with twin babies only three''days old. Many others were also siok. One maD, his wife and seven children and two other familes occupied the top of a box oar.
