A Statement From the Attorney General
. A of faote and* conditions as they exist here with reference to the locating of the Carnegie Library on Weston Park were submitted to the Attorney General by Chas. M. Blue and Warren Robinson and his reply follows: J one 12,1903. Mr. Warren Robinson, Chairman, Rensselaer- lnd. Hear Sir:— In reply to your communication of the 11th will say that the public library laws should liberally construed, for the object of those laws is to give the publio the greatest benefit possible. As I understand it the township and city furnish the money by taxaction as provided by the public library act. This library will not directly benefit the city and township, bat will be benefical to the whole county. It is clearly the intention of the act of March 9,1903, 'to encourage the erection of libraries and, it is my opinion, that the liberal con etruotion of that aot would authorize the oouncil to permit the use of your publio park for the erection of this library building, for the use of the oity and township. Very truly yours, Chas. W. Miller, Attorney General.
