Why He Jumped.

In the recent aooident at Delphi where the Monon engine left the rails and ran across the bridge on ties, the engineer jumped just as the locomotive started on its jolting run and was painfully hurt, hut was able to attend an investigation held at Lafayette two days later. “What oaused you to jump?” asked the trainmaster seriously, as the engineer took the witness stand. The engineer looked at the trainmaster a moment, and after he had readjusted his bandages, replied with fine humor: “Why did I jump? So’a that I could be here for this investigation.”
