The Doctor and the Telephone.

A man called up a doctor at midnight with the announcement that he believed his child bad -the croup. “Bring the child to the receiver, and let it cough,” replied the doctor. The child was brought, and as soon as the physician had heard It cough he remarked, “That’s croup, certainly.” Then he sent round the necessary' medicine.
