Meet in Colnmbne and Indorse Both Roosevelt and Hanna. Ohio Republicans met in State convention at Columbus Wednesday. The opening session began at 4 o’clock in the afternoon and lasted little more than an hour, when an adjournment was taken until Thursday. The feature of the day’s brief session of the convention was the speech of Senator Hanna, in taking the gavel as. temporary chairman. His indorsement of Roosevelt was unequivocal and warmly received. He painted n verbal picture of themonument which he said was built by the Republican party iu the country’s general prosperity, and at his climax thundered: “Let the Republican party write an inscription on the base of that monument in letters that all who run may read: ‘Hands off.’ “I once said ‘let well enough alone,’ ” the Senator quoted a little further along. “I now say, ‘for God’s sake keep on letting well enough alone.’ ” Senator Foraker was made the permanent chairman of the convention. Following his speech eulogizing Senator Hanna and President Roosevelt, came the adoption of the platform. The resolutions commend President Roosevelt’s ability and adherence to McKinley principles, and favor his nomination - and the re-election of' Hanna as Senator. The platform also protests against any change in the tariff or other national declarations. Certain plaqks insist on the enforcement of the amendments for negro suffrage, or the reduction of the representation of Southern States in Congress and the electoral college. The resolutions also favor legislation to stimulate local bank circulations. Myron T. Herrick was nominated for Governor by acclamation.
