Very Small increase

The enumeration of sohool children, reoently taken ehows that there is but little increase in the total number in the state. While somejoounties show small gains large number, show a decrease and the gains and losses.nearly balance eaoh other. State Sohool Superintendent Ootton has received the returns from all but fifteen oounties and basing his estimates on these returns he figures that the the total this year willl be about 165,000, against 761,801 a year ago, Laporte. Marion and Vigo counties made the greatest gains. The latter showed a gain over the last enrollment of 1,260. Marion showed a gain of 1,183 and Vigo of 1,035. Floyd showed up well with a gaia of 644 and Lake with 520 like wise made a good showing Randolph made the poorest showing, as there was a loss of 275 there. Other large losses were in Monroe, 135; Ripley, 222; Pulaski 191; Clark, 167, and Debois, 143.
