Remonstrants Win in Remington.

The decision m the 6aloou lioense application case of J. H. Alkire, of Remington, was deoided last Wednesday, forenoon. The deoision was simply that the remonstrance was signed by a majority of the legal voters of Carpenter township, and therefore the application, for a lioenoe was re fnsed It is known however, that the remonstrators had a clear majority of 20 to 25 of the legal voters. v> The anti saloon people there believe that this majority will be mnoh greater next time, owing to the exasperation of the people over the crooked and boll-dozing tactics that were adopted to defeut the . remonstrance. And which feelM ing was largely aogmented daring the hearing of th£ oase, by the dilatory taolics of the attorneys for the applicant; who asked a long string of questions about every name on the remonstrance, con--4 oerning their legal right to sign, when the great majority of them were well known legal residents / and voters of Carpenter Tp. This oaosed a very long drawn ont and tedions trial, and accomplished •v nothing in the end, exoept to oaase the temperance people to believe that it was all done to annoy them sad tire th4m ont, and keep those from Refnington away from home as long as possible.
