OBITUARY.
Charles J. Borntrager was born in Ruedigheim, near Marburg, Germany, August 19, 1834. He learned the atone mason’s trade when a young man, and afterwards Served about two years in the German army, as ie required of all able bodied citizens. He oame to tbiß country in 1865 locating at Cincinnati where be worked at his trade four years, and where, in 1867, he married Miss j Mary K- Waliz, who survives him. 1 In 1870 he oame to Jasper county, 'and lived on a farm south of Rensselaer, for 28 years, and then moved to the place where he died, southeast of towD, 5 years ago. He was a successful farmer, and an honest, hardworking man, and highly respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife, above mentioned and six children, four sons. Joseph, John, George and Frank, and two daughters Elizabeth and Anna. Also one brother, George Borntrager, ot Louisville, Ky., and all of whom were present at his funeral, which was held Mjuday, May 18th. 1903, at St Augustine’s Catholic church. His Bge at death was 68 years, 8 months and 26 days.
