The City Council.
The city treasurer’s reports shows balance on band in water fund of $157.05; and in the road fund, of $896 03. The corporation fund is overdrawn $l6B 57, and the electric light fund overdrawn $502.27. A more stringent ordinance against live stock rnnuing at large was ordered prepared by the attorney. Nothing was done abont Dnole Bill’s obioken bill, however. That bill has been under the hen so long that it is dead in the shell. The sidewalk petitioned for on Jefferson street was ordered. Still another street improvement was ordered. It is on Vine street, the first street this side of the
depot, whioh is to be improved from Forest to Main. It is to be macadamized 30 feet wide, and with oement curbs. On recommendation of the~fire warden, an ordinance was ordered drawn, to establish fire limits over blooks, 10,14 and 15. Block 10 is the one the jail is in, 14 has Thompson’s opera house and Makeever’s new Irish Village, and 16 is where the Makeever House, Republican building and Hemphill’s livery stable are. C. B. Steward was re-elected fi e warden and Burgees Dillon re-eleoted night polioe. His salary was increased to: $45 per month. A big petition for an anti spitting prdinanoe was filed. The draft for the ordinance will be presented next meeting. Some 20 claims were allowed.
