Thompson Wins Tax Ferrit Case.
Judge Timothy O. Howard, of South Bend, oame over Friday and gave his deoision in the somewhat celebrated case of Judge 8. P. Thompson against Joseph Workman and other tax ferrits, and also the treasurer of Jasper county to prevent the collection of some $l,lOO alleged by the ferrits to be due from Mr. Thompson, as baok taxes on omitted property. The deoision was a oomplete victory for Thompson, Judge Howard boding that there was no omitted property and therefore no baok taxes doe. He issued a perpetual iDjuuotiou against any attempt to oolleot this alleged baok tax. This deoision throws the costs, about $125, on Mr. Workman.
Mr. Workman states that he will take an appeal to the appellate oourt, and he has already taken the preliminary steps to that end.
