South Barkley Gravel Road.

The Commissioners let the contract for the South Barkley gravel road Wednesday, to Conover, Taber & Hawkins, for $14,995. MrConover lives in, Benton Co., the others in Remington. Two other bids were received: John Hack, of Lowell. $15,770and Moore & Woodward, of Bloomton, $15895. The viewers’ estimate was $17,000. The road,is to be of gravel and completed by Jan. Ist 1904. ! E. J. Murray has the jail heat- 1 ing plant contract, for $586. His was the lowest of several bids, except that of a Chicago firm, which was not accompanied by the necessary bond.
