The New Tax Law.

. Copies of the law changing the tax and assessment law in various particulars, have been received. One of the most important changes provides that township assessors shall hereafter begin their work March Ist instead of April l,st and giving them until May 15th to finish their work, Under the change all property would be assessed from what was owned on March Ist, It was supposed that this law would take effect this year, but one of the last amendments made to it was to strike out the emergency clause; and therefore the bill will not take effect until all the laws are published and sent out, in the book form, which will not be for several months yet. Therefore the assessments this year will be made under the old law, and not begin until April Ist.
