Rensselaer Basket Ball Team Is Great

A very exciting game of Basket Ball was pullec off at Warner’s Hall Friday evening between the Hammond and Rensselaer High School Teams. The Hammond team was somewhat heavier than ours, but we made up in speed. All of the girls on our team fairly out-did . themselves they played so well. Frances Eigelsbach, center, was almost every place at once, she seemed to throw the ball from one end of the field and get down to the other end in time to catch it. Josie Porter and Madge Beam as right and left forwards fairly excelled every body’s expectations by the way they made the baskets. Alice Drake and Lola Clift did very good work in keeping the other side from making too many baskets. The Hammond team was composed of Majory Jackson center, Virginia Knotts and Helen Maucheeforewards, Mamie Schafer and Mary guards, played a very good game, but the game resulted in victory for Rensselaer, the score being 16 to 13 in our favor.

The game was fast and snappy and casualities were few and far between, the only person seriously hurt was Miss Knotts of Hammond, the star player on their team, who got her ankle pretty badly sprained. Mrs, Louis Hollingsworth entertained both teams after the game last evening at her spacious dwelling on McCoy Ave., and all report an enjoyable time. Whats the matter with the Basket Ball players. They’re all right, Who’s all right The Rensselaer Basket Ball team.
