Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 35, Number 47, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 17 February 1903 — Commercial Bank To First National. [ARTICLE]

Commercial Bank To First National.

After March Ist Rensselaer will have a national bank. Tbe fact that the Commercial State bank proposed changing to a national bank was stated in this paper some weeks ago. It was then thought that

preparations for the change would not be completed before the Ist of April. Now, as will be seen from a legal notice in this paper, the Ist of March has been decided upon as the date of the change. The name of the bank, after the change will be “The First National Bank, of Rensselaer, Ind,” This bank, having been the first to make application for a charter as a national bank, was given the first right by the controller of the currency, to choose any name they wished, and therefore they chose to be known by name, what it will be in fact, the National bank, for Rensselaer and Jasper county. Its management wilU be the same as that of the present Comntercial state bank. An issue of national bank currency will be made, but not for some months yet, and the amount of which has not yet been fully decided upon. The capital stock will also be largely increased, though the amount has not been fully decided upon either.
