An Eminent Dowie Elder Here.
Elder Geo. Chenowoth. of Zion City, is visiting his neice Mrs. Ida Benjamin, and cousin, Mrs, Jane Morris. The Elder states that Zion is flourishing greatly. It now is only a little over a year old says the Elder and has 6,000 inhabitants and nary a hog,' dead or alive in it. No tobaccoin any formjsr intoxicating liquors of any kind is allowed within its borders. This certainly is commendible. Elder 'Chenowoth claims to be a living example of Do vie’s power of healing. He says he had nasal catarrh of 30 years standing, tuberculosis of the lungs, and a malignant cancer on his back and besides "didn’t feel very well himself.” All of these diseases he say's were cured by laying on of hands. He says he has as good health as he ever had in his life. The tabernacle he says is ornamented with a par load (more cr less) of crutches, invalid chairs, stretchers, etc. thrown away by those who were healed. The Elder has
a son who has gone on crutches for 25 years. But he does not explain who those same crutches are not ornamenting the tabernacle with the rest of the oar load. Zion City is 42 miles north of Chicago, on the North Western R. R. near the Wisconsin line and on Lake Michigan. Business flourishes greatly, especially building enterprises. Mechanics receive from four to five dollars per day. Common laborers from $1.75 to $2.50 per day. Mr. Chenowoth expects soon to be sent to some foreign country as a missionary.
