Rensselaer Ministers Take Action
Whereas, there has been introduced in the Legislature a bill (H, R. 184) which seeks to destroy the best feature of the present Nicholson law, and Whereas, a bill has already passed the House of Representatives to legalize Sunday base ball in Indianapolis, therefore, Be it resolved, by the Ministerial Association of Rensselaer, First, that we express our unqualified and emphatic disapproval of and protest against both of these measures and call upon our Senator and Representative to use their influence tq prevent these bills becoming laws. Second, in view of the fact that the recent campaign was conducted with the tacit understanding that there was to be no change in the liquor laws, such a‘change as the one proposed at this time we would regard as a breach of faith with the people on the part of the party now in power. Third, we believe that the attempt already made to change this law releases the temperance forces from any obligations that might' have rested upon them to refrain from demanding more aggressive anti-liquor legislation, and we therefore endorse the movement now being inaugurated to give to people of Indiana a Inw that will amount at least give to them local option without even the disadvantegous features of ibe present law. T, A. Hall, A. G. Wobk, Pres, Secy.
